Diets in general are difficult to get into. They require adjustments, discipline, and a strong will in order to fully commit. For this reason, it is great to have a diet buddy to fall back on. You can offer each other a support system for when the going gets tough during your dieting and weight loss process. In some ways, your relationship with your diet buddy is on a different level from your best friend, for they are the ones that will push and motivate you to pursue your weight loss goal with minimal sugar coating and filters, which we sometimes need to encourage us when we’re thinking of giving up.
Having a diet buddy also gives you an opportunity to have someone with you to make your weight loss journey much more bearable, and can even help you become more effective in dieting. Below are some ways you and your diet buddy can help each other in achieving your fitness goals.
Plan Your Meals Together
Oftentimes, when you don’t plan your meals in advance, you’re bound to get hungry. And with no plan in mind, you’ll be more likely to look for any food to eat, breaking your diet in the process. Planning meals in advance helps prevent this by making sure you have something to eat or have something planned based on your schedule. Planning this with your diet buddy is also great because you have someone looking out for you for when you are hungry and in need of something that still adheres to your diet and vice versa. You can even prepare easy to make meals together. Also, it helps for deciding what to eat after a workout session with your buddy because at least you both know where to go because you’re both dieting. One doesn’t need to adjust too much for the other.
Make Time For Exercise Routines Together
Your diet buddy doesn’t necessarily have to be someone near you, for even if they are, you would most likely still have conflicting schedules. That is why it’s best if you both dedicate at least one day of your week to having a pair workout session so you can motivate each other. From a technical perspective, you can also watch each other’s forms and posture to see if the both of you are getting the most effective workout session possible. It doesn’t have to stop with the gym as well. You can have scheduled biking sessions, basketball practices, yoga lessons, crossfit appointments, etc.
Take Similar Diet Plans Together
Of course, this all depends on what is necessary for their goals or what is recommended by their doctor, so this may not always be possible. But having a diet buddy with a similar diet plan can be great because you would have an idea on each other’s plans which can lead to sharing tips on how you can make the most out of your routines. Whether you’re both going for rigorous workout plans or are both taking HCG shots, having someone know exactly what you’re going through can lessen the load of having to learn an overview of a different diet plan for the other’s sake.
Spend Quality Time Together
Your relationship with your diet buddy doesn’t have to be completely pragmatic, after all, they are the ones that will be with you every step of the way in your weight loss journey. So why not lessen the awkwardness and spend time with them outside of your dieting plan? Watch movies together, go shopping together, or just confide with each other about your problems and struggles, diet-related or not. You’d be amazed at how a bit more camaraderie and friendship can lead to better partnerships and more effective achievement of goals.
Having a diet buddy doesn’t magically make you lose your weight. Of course, you still have to exert effort yourself, control your eating, take your HCG shots, and exercise the excess fat away on your own. Having said that, a diet buddy can do wonders to increase your effectiveness and boost your morale. So why not invite a friend over you can trust to be your diet buddy? Or use this as a chance to make new friends? As they say, no man is an island, so while independence is important in one’s weight loss journey, it’s not too bad to have someone walking that same journey with you.
