Tips on How To Cook the Healthy Way

Not everyone is a degree holder or even have a great skills in culinary. But cooking by yourself is recommended while you are using HCG shots. This will help you control the total calories that you are taking instead of buying food elsewhere. It’s just a matter of choosing the right method and avoid mistakes in cooking.

Here are some tips that will help you cook the healthier way:

Use fresh Ingredients
Having fresh ingredients also means eating healthy. Always choose the fresh one rather than the packed one. As much as possible, avoid canned and frozen foods. They usually have preservatives and additives such as dyes, artificial flavors and sugars; chemicals decrease the nutritional value of the food. In addition to this, fresh foods also provide the best taste, or in short, it’s more delicious!

Healthy Cooking Oil
Cooking starts in oil and it’s an important factor to choose the right oil for your food. There are variety of healthy cooking oil depending on your health needs. Using wrong oil in cooking can make a healthful meal to damaged one. The heat in the oil must also put into consideration because this is the point where oil begins to smoke that produces toxic fumes and harmful free radicals that may affect the food itself, it can be by its taste or to the nutrients it provide.

Limit Consumption of Salt
As we mentioned above, avoid canned goods as it is packed with salt. According to Authority Nutrition, we should only aim for less than 1500 mg of sodium or salt per day, but not more than 2300 mg. 1500 mg amounts to 0.75 teaspoons or 3.75 grams of salt per day, while 2300 mg amounts to one teaspoon or 6 grams of salt per day.

Don’t Overcook Your Food
Overcooking may result to a numerous health risk. Properly cooked foods can give you the right nutrients but when you overcook your food, you destroy valuable nutrients like enzymes, micronutrients, vitamins and antioxidants.

Its mainly important to know the utensils to use when you are cooking. For example, frypan is for frying; saucepan for liquid, boiling, or sauces while grill pan for grilling etc. In addition, don’t use damaged cookwares for these may contaminate your food which can cause health hazards.

Cleaning Up
The most important part is cleaning not just the food, but everything in the space of cooking. For the food, it is very much advisable to wash the food especially fruits and vegetables under cold running water before eating them, to help remove visible bacteria. Everything must be cleaned properly from the cookingware, to the food and the surroundings.

Learn The Cooking Method
There are plenty ways or method of cooking depends on the food you preferred. If you’re doing the wrong method to certain food, the heat can break down and destroy atlast 15 to 29 percent of nutrients that contains the food. Here are some of the basic cooking methods;

– Pan-Fry
Most common cooking method. Foods are added with fats then flipped over so the other side can also be cooked. Example are eggs, sausage, ham and other related.
– Deep Fry
It is when the food is completely submerged in a hot fat to make it crispy, golden brown and fully cooked.
– Boil
Foods are boiled in water until it’s drained. Common foods for boiling is mostly vegetables.
– Simmer
Foods are usually cooked with a liquid in a pot. It is done over low heat, with a tiny bubbles appearing in the surface.
– Broil
Food cooking heat is from the top. It is usually done in an oven, adjusting the setting into broil. Golden brown and crispy cheese on the lasagna is an example of broiling.
– Steam
Foods are placed in a steamer over hot liquid.
– Grill
Foods are cooked from the coals underneath the grate. It is usually involved in an open flame.
