HCG Diet Food Choices

HCG diet program is one of the most popular ways of weight loss. Discovered by Dr. A.T.W Simeons in the 60s, it is a safe and orderly method of weight loss that women and men can do. HCG diet program requires strenuous calorie restriction. While you are on this diet, you have to carefully plan what you eat on a daily basis. Eat 2 servings of meat daily but not at the same time. You can grill, boil, or broil the meat but do not use additional fat or oils. One serving is 3/12 grams. Diabetics may eat only one protein item to control their blood sugar. Non diabetics shall eat 2 servings daily as it is very important for maintaining muscle.


Same with protein, you should eat 2 servings of vegetables daily but not at the same time. You can consume these along with your protein or separately. One serving is 1 cup of leafy greens and 1 cup of other vegetables. You can eat asparagus, beet greens, cabbage, celery, chard, chicory, greens, cucumber, fennel, green salad, onion, red radishes, spinach, or tomato.


Fruits that you are allowed to eat while you are on HCG diet are one apple, a handful of strawberries, one medium orange, or one half of grapefruit. Serving size depends on the fruit. Remember to eat twice a day but not at the same time.


Just like the foods mentioned above, starches should be consumed two times a day but not at the same time. You are only allowed to eat two types of starch: grissini (breadstick) and one Melba toast. Make sure to check its portions sizes, weights, and calorie count before consuming.


It is recommended that you drink at least 2 quarts or 8 cups every day. Fluids that are not allowed to drink while you are on HCG diet are alcohol, non-dairy creamer, sweetener other than saccharin or stevia. You can drink water, herbal tea, green tea, black tea, and coffee without sugar. Lemon juice and one tablespoon of milk is allowed once a day. If you are having trouble with being hungry, you can drink Yerba mate tea.


Seasonings that are allowed are: salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, sweet basil, garlic, parsley, thyme, marjoram, and other herbs and spices. When you use salt, try to use the same amount every day. Butter, any types of oil, commercial dressings are not allowed.
